Beachside Event & BTS Photography

A few months ago I was hired to photograph some behind the scenes for a beachside event being setup in Huntington Beach, California. I photographed a day of it being set up and the opening night of the actual event. I've never photographed such a large scale event on a beach. It was a unique experience to watch all the various crews work together throughout the day to assemble all the sets. For the photographs, I was focusing on teamwork, networking, textures, details, moments, and things that caught my eye.


A rather bizarre side note of the shoot is that a helicopter crashed a week later right on top of the pedestrian bridge exit that I spent a fair amount of time going back and forth from to take overall shots of the setup and event. Thankfully there were no fatalities of that, but there were injuries, including a child who will hopefully fully recover. Nothing scary like that happened during my two days of shooting, but I was shocked to see a helicopter crash at such a public spot and one that I'd recently spent so much time at.
