US Travel Association - IPW 2024

September 17, 2024 Events

Usually when I'm photographing a convention, I'm getting in all my steps, wandering all day throughout the building. This was a rare, cool shoot where I was tasked with solely documenting one booth - probably the neatest booth there. I made these photographs for one of my favorite clients. They are extremely detail oriented and give me a whole production package with samples of images they've gotten from previous shoots, detailed maps of the conventions, contact numbers, delivery expectations, and more. I love working with them.

The booth that was the focus of the shoot was an art piece with fun details to photograph. The client recently updated their styles, requesting some more abstract photos. Pairing that with the fact that I spent the whole day at this one booth, and I was really given some freedom to play and make fun photographs. It was a long day of circling the same booth, but that gave me time and opportunity to experiment and find interesting framing and the best angles of the space to wait for people to fill.

Just before I left, I happened to stumble into the artist who designed the booth and was able to make some portraits of him engulfed in his creation. Him and his wife were excited to see the booth constructed and happy to give me a few minutes to photograph him with it.

Here’s some photographs from one of my favorites event shoots of the year.
