Photographing the 2022 Southern Baptist Convention Annual Meeting

I was hired to photograph the SBC Annual Meeting in Anaheim, CA by Religion News service. As a kid, I was part of a small Methodist church. It was a unique experience to see such a gathering of churches and a system of voting and rules to guide them. As it was a couple days of covering this event, it was one of those assignments where you have time to try different things and to look for different pictures as you're faced with repetitive circumstances. Those are the types of events where you can find fun details and focus on making photographs that go a little beyond the general coverage required, which is part of what makes this job fun.
