Work from Spring '26
As a freelance photographer, it often feels far too easy to disappear in the digital maze of the internet. It feels much more that way now that I removed my work from Instagram. I try to get up blog posts when I do interesting work, but sometimes I'm just keeping busy with some pretty basic work that just pays the bills. Sometimes there doesn't feel like there's enough photographs to warrant a blog post.
With that in mind, here are three mini-blogs squished into one to show some of the work and play I did this spring. I've included a little text blurb with each to give the photos some context. To start off, here are some of my favorites from the fancy food fair I photographed in San Diego earlier this year. And yes, I was treated to some delicious samples as I worked my way through the event photographing it.
I photographed this protest against the pop-up restaurant Noma and it's founder, who stepped away from the business the day after this protest. This was an interesting one, positioned at the very top of one of LA's house filled hills. People arriving at a private residence for a very expensive lunch. Workers standing outside protesting the work environment created by the company. Sun, shadows, and locked gates. And giant inflatable mushrooms.
These last photographs are from a quick weekend getaway to the Channel Islands, somewhere I've wanted to visit for a long time and hope to do some scuba diving around at some point. I always try to bring my camera with me, but also try and give myself space from it to help prevent photography from feeling like a chore instead of a privilege. So here are a couple photographs from a hike we did around the island, as well photographs of a huge pod of dolphins that gave us an memorable send off as we headed back home. So thankful to be able to experience beautiful spots like this.
