Bernie Sanders, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, & Neil Young Rally in Los Angeles

Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez have been touring the country with their 'Fight Oligarchy' rallies and they swung through Los Angeles this past weekend. They had some musical guests warm up the stage for them, including one of my all-time favorites, Neil Young.

Most political events are much smaller and easier to navigate. I didn't expect to come across such a massive crowd at this one. 36,000 people showed up to the rally, held in the park in front of City Hall in downtown Los Angeles, California. The sheer crowd size made it a more difficult event to navigate. My press pass to the event was also a sticker, which I eventually, unknowingly, sweated off. With those things in mind, I was a little worried about losing my access to the restricted press sections, so I stuck close by and unfortunately missed some of the more interesting photographs surrounding the event, but still came out with some I was happy with.

At these events, there are always the staple shots you have to get. For this one, you're there to get AOC, Bernie, the crowd, and some of the musical guests as well. It's the fringe stuff that makes the shoot interesting or unique. Who is in the crowd? What's happening at the back of the crowds. What tchotchkes have people brought along with them? It's always fun to see other photographers' takes of the same event to see the differences of how saw the event and what you may have missed.
